Community & PTA

The PTA and Community

Community involvement is important not only for the children but for the local community of Highgate.

Throughout the year we hold various PTA  events and raise funds to help support the local Community such as Jackson’s Lane Community Centre, The Challenge Group and the Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation.  We organise Food Drives twice a year and deliver large collections of foodstuffs to a local charity for local families in need.

All parents automatically become members of the PTA when their child joins the School and the opportunity exists for them to become involved in committee work, helping at some of the events, or merely supporting these occasions as time permits. It’s great fun and a very friendly Association.

At the beginning of the school year, the PTA organises a New Parents event to introduce new parents to parents already in the school.  These events have ranged from a Spit Roast at the Red Lion and the Sun in Highgate to a drinks and canapes evening  at The Bull.

Testimonials

Below is a sampling of parent testimonials

"The Avenue in North London immediately caught our attention during our school tours for its exceptional staff quality and nurturing pastoral environment. The children were not only learning but also thriving under careful guidance, fostering a sense of safety and warmth.

The transformation we've witnessed in our daughter, who attended the nursery for a year, has been remarkable. She has grown significantly more confident, curious, and happy, a testament to the school's effective environment.

A key factor in our satisfaction has been the strong sense of community and the outstanding leadership at The Avenue. Rebecca Perrett, the nursery leader, is truly exceptional, and the supportive network that includes staff members like Mary, Sarah and Sue, as well as the engaged parents, enriches the  experience.

Our only regret is our need to leave, prompted by our upcoming relocation to the U.S. We wholeheartedly recommend The Avenue to any parent considering it. Opting for this school was one of the best decisions we made for our child!”

"A small note to thank you for allowing our girls to enter their path of education at such a wonderful school. We have loved every aspect of their time with you at The Avenue. W have been so impressed with the care, attention, strength of teaching and the personal touch of the school - it's certainly going to be a very tough school to follow.

It is hard to convey just how special w see your school as being, and how grateful we are that our daughters were able to spend the past few years under your provision. The school and the teachers, and the community it has provided is going to be deeply missed".

Very best wishes

“After eight wonderful years at the Avenue, we’re incredibly sad to be saying goodbye, but leave knowing that E and M have had a happy and secure start to their school lives. We’ve mad friends ourselves and will miss seeing so many of the parents and teachers each day. The Avenue really has been an important part of our family life.

We can’t thank you enough for providing a happy, nurturing and stimulating environments for the children. E and M have been so happy at the school and leave with such fond memories. We know how important these early years are and feel fortunate that the Avenue has helped shape their formative years and provide a secure foundation for their future.

The breadth of the curriculum – form music to swimming and woodwork – has been so enjoyable and inspiring for theh children.  And with such strong academic teaching they eve manged to get in the other ‘local’ school! Our that’s again and best wishes for the future".
